It is highly recommended that the screenings not be done in isolation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the semester, the students will meet the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Describe the cultural, socio-economic, and political fabric of contemporary Spain through the lens of gender.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Apply the fundamentals of critical television theory to the analysis of Spanish programming.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Describe the general social and historical contexts in which historical narratives are set.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Formulate <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/blooms-taxonomy.pdf\">learning outcomes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Assess areas of own knowledge and lacunae.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Interpret contemporary representations of women within the framework of 20th Spanish history.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Critically interpret\u00a0works of fiction to reconstruct historical moments.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/conectores-textuales.pdf\">Present ideas clearly<\/a> and effectively in spoken and written Spanish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Blog (40%)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Each week, 24 hours before class, students will post either a <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/close-reading.pdf\">close reading of a primary text<\/a> or a <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/engaging-with-a-secondary-source.pdf\">critical response to a secondary text<\/a>. Special attention should be paid to the medium of the text (e.g. <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/technical-considerations_film.pdf\">film and television<\/a>\u00a0y <em><a href=\"http:\/\/courses.kyrakietrys.com\/spa407fa2016\/documents\/terminos-de-cine.pdf\">en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/em>.)
